BIOTECHNOLOGY FOR DECREASING METHANE IN MINE COALS
Biotechnology For Decreasing Methane In Mine Coals. It is known that up to 80% methane enters from the exhaust spaces to mine coals areas. The offered biotechnology is based on methane oxidation by methanotrophic bacteria. On the first stage bacteria grow on the mine fermentation equipment. After it they are immobilized on the rock surface which fills the exhaust spaces of mines. This is achieved by drawing of methanotroph suspension in the nutrition media on the rock surface. There methanotrophic bacteria consume methane, decrease amount on 60%. Application of the biotechnology substantially increases miners’ work safety.
